Faith Groups Praise Movement of Immigration Bill Out of Senate Judiciary Committee

As Evangelical Christians we are very grateful the spirit of bipartisanship shown by the Senate Judiciary Committee in advancing legislation that reflects our nation’s best values on immigration. This shows political courage for the common good.

Christians across the country have come together, putting our faith into action for 11 million people that our Scriptures call “strangers.” We have worked and prayed hard for reform and have urged our nation’s political leaders to enact immigration reform that keeps families together and provides an earned pathway to citizenship while also ensuring the safety of our borders. We won’t stop speaking, acting, and praying for our immigrant brothers and sisters until we see this vital reform signed into law.

As the full Senate prepares to consider this legislation I hope the common good and common sense will continue to be moral guiding principles for our nation’s decision makers as they move this bill forward. May our preaching, prayers, petitions, and practical action help our political leaders, across the political spectrum, to do the right thing.
