Evangelical leaders pushing immigration reform
An Evangelical Day of Prayer and Action for Immigration Reform announced on Friday is the latest effort by evangelical pastors and organizations to push for a path to citizenship for undocumented immigrants.
The event will take place on April 17 and feature leading evangelical Christian pastors. It is being organized by the Evangelical Immigration Table.
The immigration table includes some of the country’s most influential evangelical leaders, including Leith Anderson, president of the National Association of Evangelicals; Richard Land, president of the Southern Baptist Ethics and Religious Liberty Commission; Mathew Staver, chairman of Liberty Counsel; Jim Wallis, president and CEO of Sojourners, and Samuel Rodriguez, president of the National Hispanic Christian Leadership Conference. The heads of a number of evangelical denominations are also part of the immigration table.
