"Thank you for your letter expressing concern about the use of Abbott's sodium thiopental in capital punishment procedures. Abbott markets sodium thiopental solely for use as an anesthetic agent. Employment of the drug in capital punishment procedures is clearly outside of the usage approved by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration."
