I WAS VERY SHOCKED and upset with your January-February 1999 cover photo. Although now proposing nuclear abolition, I see Gen. Butler proudly wears his six rows of military trophies, superimposed over a large American flag. It seems to me a cheap shot at attracting the "just war," flag-waving folks, made all the more deplorable in light of the recent shameful bombings of Iraq.
All that military gear and red, white, and blue made me so uncomfortable that Sojourners was turned face-down at the bottom of our reading stack.
