CBS: "Occupy" Group Plans NYC To Washington March

Occupy Wall Street is going on the road: a two-week walk to Washington D.C. A small group of activists plans to leave Manhattan's Zuccotti Park at noon Wednesday. They hope to arrive in Washington D.C. on Nov. 23, the deadline for a congressional committee to decide whether to keep President Barack Obama's extension of tax cuts enacted under former President George W. Bush. Protesters say the cuts benefit only rich Americans.

MOTHER JONES: Our Expensive, Expanding Nuclear Weapons Complex

On April 5, 2009, President Barack Obama took the stage before 20,000 people in Prague's Hradcany Square to offer an ambitious global vision. "Today, I state clearly and with conviction America's commitment to seek the peace and security of a world without nuclear weapons," he told the open-air audience in the former Eastern Bloc capital. "To put an end to Cold War thinking, we will reduce the role of nuclear weapons in our national security strategy, and urge others to do the same."

THE WASHINGTON POST (ON FAITH)/RNS: Evangelicals Call For Nuclear Cutbacks

The National Association of Evangelicals on Tuesday (Nov. 8) called for greater precautions with nuclear weapons and a renewed effort toward disarmament. “The rules have changed in the past 25 years,” NAE President Leith Anderson said. “Nuclear weapons don’t serve as a deterrent to the dangers of our post-Cold War era, which include rogue nations and terrorist groups.”

Mississippi voters Tuesday rejected a controversial amendment that would have defined life as beginning at conception while Ohio voters repealed a law that limited the collective bargaining rights of public workers, CNN projects.

THE ATLANTIC: Occupy Wall Street Is Overshadowing Itself

The news coverage of the Occupy Wall Street protest in New York resembles city-oriented metro-style reporting, and not New York metro either, but rather coverage of Zuccotti Park as its own little town. On Wednesday, The New York Times ran a crime-stats story about policing the park, and on Tuesday the Wall Street Journal went with the development angle, reporting on how the protest encampment was building up, not out.
