One Year After the Earthquake, Haiti Youth Choir Sings

110112-haitichoirTo commemorate the anniversary of the devastating earthquake in Haiti, the Haiti Partners youth choir, WOZO, sings about those who have passed. The song is composed by choir director, Alex Myril and volunteer coordinator, Merline Engle, with the help of choir members.

Much of earthquake footage is by friend and Haiti Partners associate, Luke Renner, and the lyrics are as follows:

January 12th, a day of terror and tears.
Eyes and hearts of Haitians filled with pain,
January 12th, a day of terror and tears.
Eyes and hearts of Haitians filled with pain.
A horrific disaster, followed by cholera, and misery
take so many to their death.
Your blood spilled,
and your souls live on and you are with us,
Giving your fellow Haitians strength
for the work of rebuilding Haiti.

Kent Annan is co-director of Haiti Partners (www.haitipartners.org), which has set up an Earthquake Response Fund. He is also author of the new book Following Jesus Through the Eye of the Needle: Living Fully, Loving Dangerously, which is about living and working in Haiti.
