The nation's most infamous immigration law, requiring police to arrest people suspected of being undocumented, took partial affect last month. The legislation was not just a grassroots effort by a lack of border enforcement in Arizona. National Public Radio reports that the bill, titled "Support Our Law Enforcement and Safe Neighborhoods Act," was conceived and named in a hotel conference room in Washington, D.C. last December, with backing from some of the nation's largest private prison contractors.
