The Common Good

Brandon Baird

Development Assistant

Brandon was born and raised near Asheville, in the Blue Ridge Mountains of North Carolina, and is a recent graduate of the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. While there, he studied psychology and religious studies and volunteered with a local church youth group. His pastor and congregation instilled in him a passion for biblical justice, but he learned more about the gospel from the actions of the youth than he ever learned in church.

Brandon is an amazing cook (as long as you like one of the three dishes he has perfected) and enjoys free food samples at grocery stores (he is not ashamed of taking a second lap), strong coffee, great hikes, and furniture finds at thrift shops. Proud of his Appalachian roots, Brandon considers himself a connoisseur of bluegrass and mountain music, but has a long way to go on guitar before having a band of his own someday.

Brandon is honored and humbled to join the Sojourners staff, and to be a small part of God’s redemption mission here on earth.

“The arc of the moral universe is long, but it bends toward justice.” – Martin Luther King Jr.
